December 27 - Words Are Cheap

Brian tousled Gus’ hair and put his arm around the boy’s shoulders.

“Let’s take a walk, sonny boy. You can tell me what’s been bothering you since you came here.”

They put on their boots, coats and scarves and went outside. After a while, Gus asked.

“Dad… when the baby’s born… can I still come visit you?”

Gently cupping Gus’ face, Brian looked deep into his eyes and said, “Listen to me, Gus. I know words are cheap but you have to believe this. I could never love anyone more than you. Maybe as much as you, but never more.”
